Carl Brazell
Carl Brazell is President of CSB Ventures LLC, a US firm which offers consulting services to media and other communications companies worldwide. Mr. Brazell is a veteran media and communications executive with over fifty years, both domestically and internationally, in various communications industries. After some 30 years as an on-air journalist and manager of US radio stations, he was a founding partner in Command Communications, Inc., a US radio company; President of one of the leading US radio groups, Metromedia Radio, prior to leading a leveraged buyout of that company, and a founding partner of Metromedia International Inc., a start-up radio company in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union,.Mr. Brazell later became Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Metromedia International Group, Inc. (“MIG”), a publicly traded international telecommunications company, which owned and operated telecommunications companies in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet republics, including: (a) 22 FM/AM radio broadcasting stations operating in 9 countries, (b) 11 MMDS and wired cable television systems in 7 countries, and (c) 8 fixed line telephony, mobile telephony and international switching companies in 5 countries.Earlier in his career, Brazell managed radio stations in New York, Detroit and Dallas from 1972 through 1981, and was a broadcast journalist at radio stations in New York, Los Angeles, Washington, Chicago, Houston, Lafayette, Louisiana, and Crowley, Louisiana.Mr. Brazell was a member of the Board of Directors of CJSC RUSTEL, a Moscow-based Russian telephone company; served on the Advisory Board of The Eurasia Group, a political risk analysis firm based in New York; the Advisory Board of Redgate Media, based in Beijing and Hong Kong, which operates media assets in Mainland China; was a member of the Board of Directors of the Library of American Broadcasting, and is an Academician of the International Telecommunications Academy, based in Moscow.
For over twenty years, Mr. Brazell served as a member of the Board of the Radio Advertising Bureau, the marketing arm of the US radio industry. Previously, he was President and Board Member of the Dallas Radio Managers Association, the Association of Broadcast Executives of Texas and the Press Club of Houston, and Board Member of the New York Radio Marketing Association, the Detroit Radio Advertising Group and the Dallas Advertising League.Carl Brazell began his career in the mid-1950s broadcasting in French and English on Radio Station KSIG in Crowley, Louisiana. He presently lives in Breaux Bridge, LA with his wife, Susan Ziller Brazell, a marketing consultant.
