The Teche Center for the Arts, a cultural and educational non-profit community facility based in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana is currently seeking a full time paid executive director who would be charged with leading the efforts in an annual membership drive, annual fundraiser, class/event organization and other TCA functions to cash flow and provide the annual revenue stream to cover the cost of all TCA operations and overhead, in addition to managing the day-to-day operations of the TCA.

The mission of the Teche Center for the Arts (TCA) is to be the principal cultural, arts, music, educational and historical center for the residents and tourists of Breaux Bridge and Saint Martin Parish. The TCA will feature music, art, language and the rich Cajun and Creole culture, people and history of Acadiana. A primary focus is teaching children the arts, music and Cajun /Creole language of the region.

Additional long term plans of the TCA strategy include featuring (a) historic milestones of St. Martin Parish, (b) individuals who made major military contributions, (c) men and women of accomplishment from the parish, and (d) an Oral History program in which interviews with noted residents would be available for viewing by visitors to the TCA center.

The Teche Center for the Arts is a non-profit corporation formed in the State of Louisiana.  Status as a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation under Internal Revenue Service rules is pending; the application is currently in the final stages of preparation.  The TCA has an agreement with the Community Foundation of Acadiana (CFA) for processing all TCA expenses under the 501(c)3 umbrella of the CFA, thus ensuring non-profit status for the TCA for tax purposes.


As a non-profit, cultural and historic entity, the Teche Center for the Arts must pursue an aggressive out-reach program for generating revenues to operate.  To this end, certain specific areas are being targeted to develop funds, as follows: (a) selling tickets to TCA sponsored events at the TCA theater, such as music concerts, etc., (b) rental of the TCA theater to outside entities for events such as weddings, banquets, etc., (c) sponsorships of TCA events and projects by local merchants and individuals, (d) music, dance, cooking and language classes in workshop form, with paid attendance, (e) local and touring theater productions, with income from ticket sales, (f) federal and state grants from agencies supporting the arts, as well as foundation grants, and (g) sale of commemorative bricks for the pocket park in front of the TCA building, with names engraved to honor a relative, memory or milestone, for $135 each..  All of these fund raising activities are being managed by the Fundraising Committee of the TCA Board of Trustees.

The Executive Director is responsible for the management and administration of the TCA, consistent with the mission, goals, and policies set forth by the Board of Trustees.  The Executive Director will be responsible for the overall operation of the TCA, including administration, finance, fundraising, outreach and marketing, and grant applications. Specific duties and responsibilities will be outlined to final candidates for the position.
